So I don’t know about you but my child is not a fan of veggies. She prefers chicken nuggets and of course the yellow processed mac an cheese. ugh, working on switching her over but oh well. She is quite the picky eater sometimes and I want to make sure she gets all her nutrients. My answer is a smoothie, plus she loves helping me make it too.
So in order to get her to eat the veggies I had to find a way to hide the taste a little without any added sugar. She is wild enough as it is, she doesn’t need any extra sugar. So my go to for any smoothie that has greens in it, is a BANANA! This is a magical little fruit because it somehow masks all those greens my little one hates.
The Recipe
So Here a few pointers before I get into the recipe. I use frozen berries instead of ice, I like the texture better and it doesn’t get as watered down. I also really like those smoothie packs when I am in a pinch and want a smoothie quick. I don’t use any milk or yogurt in this recipe but it can be added to make it creamy or add protein. If you are feeling extra adventurous add some flax seed or chia seed.
- 1 Banana
- 1/2 cup Strawberries (Frozen or fresh)
- 1/4 Blueberries (Frozen or fresh)
- If you used fresh fruit add about 1/2 cup of ice to make it cold
- 2 cups of Spinach
- 1 cup Kale
- 1/4 of water as needed for blending
You can add the ingredients however you like but I suggest the banana and any fresh fruit in the bottom to help with blending.
